PIR Insulation Board Sample Conductivities
Experimental data for polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation boards with fiberglass facers, aluminum facers, or no facer.
Applicability
These are measurements for specific research specimens, not general design values for PIR products. Formulation, density, thickness, facer, aging, moisture and temperature may affect performance; differences among these specimens cannot be attributed to facer type alone. Design requires data for the actual product, conditions and applicable standards.
The table reports means from the paper; the plate temperature difference was about 20 K and the mean measurement temperature about 24 °C. Humidity and specimen aging conditions are not specified in the conductivity-test description. Use only for the listed discrete conditions; do not interpolate or extrapolate.
PIR board sample measurements
The table can be scrolled horizontally on small screens.
| Facer | Specimen thickness cm | Mean measurement temperature °C | Hot-plate temperature °C | Cold-plate temperature °C | Thermal conductivity W/(m·K) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fiberglass facer | 2.412 | 24.00 | 34.01 | 14.01 | 0.026 |
| Aluminum facer | 2.498 | 24.02 | 34.02 | 14.02 | 0.024 |
| No facer | 2.486 | 23.95 | 33.96 | 13.95 | 0.023 |
Lookup example
The fiberglass-faced specimens have mean thickness 2.412 cm and mean test temperature 24.00 °C; the row gives 0.026 W/(m·K). This value is specific to the paper’s specimens and conditions; do not interpolate or use it as a general product design value.
Method and license
The paper reports heat-flow-meter measurements and cites ASTM C518. It describes four 30 cm × 30 cm specimens but does not explicitly state allocation per group. The table presents only the means from Table 2; the statistical meaning of the source’s ± values is not clearly defined and must not be treated as measurement uncertainty.
